Laura E. Kelly, ’69; donated a great collection of school papers (The Cheltonian and Junior School Press). The collection belonged to her father, Tichard C. Kelly, Jr. ’36; who passed away September 14, 2000.                                             July, 2008

 

David Finck, class of 1976. Finck was a contributing author to the book: Frank Sinatra, the MAN, the MUSIC, published in 2007.  He is a Bassist and has recorded with a diverse group of artists including: Dizzy Gillespie, Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Rod Stewart, Tony Bennett, George Michael, Rosemary Clooney and Andre Previn.                                                                            July, 2008

 

Chief Master Sergeant John L. Hoffman, Jr. class of 1977.  Chief master Sergeant Hoffman leads 48 talented force support airmen responsible for establishing and maintaining bare bases for headquarters U.S. special operations command’s deployment cell (D-Cell. He is responisible for developing training, equipping and manning D-Cell to support over 54,000 special operators assigned to Joint Operations Task Forces engaged in fighting the Global war on terrorism. July, 2008

 

Joanne Epps, Esq. class of 1969; was  appointed Dean of Temple's James E.        Beasley School of Law on April 11, 2008.  Epps will oversee 64 faculty members more than 1,200 students at Temple's main campus and nearly 150 students enrolled in Temple's law programs in China & Japan.  She is in the CHS Hall of Fame                                                                                                                      July, 2008

 

On April 9, 2008, Laura Harper, '04; was chosen in the 1st round, 10th pick overall, during the Women's National Basketball Association on April 9, 2008. Laura will be playing for the Sacramento Monarchs. She is a 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland.                                                                                        July, 2008

 

Scott Eveslage, class of 1986, will be returning to CHS on July 1st as the Vice Principal. Scott served as Director of Student Activities for several years and coached boys' basketball for many years.  In 2006, he was appointed athletic director at Lower Merion High School.                                                            July, 2008

 

Charles Stamm, '67;  who retired last year after 33 years as a teacher, coach and media educator, had the CHS TV studio named in  his honor on June 7th. A plaque hangs outside the studio. At the time of his retirement, Stamm was the Executive Producer of "Eye of the Panther," a local program that informs residents of the many academic programs and accomplishments of CHS students and students throughout  Cheltenham Schools.  The program also highlights the many outstanding student activities such as the band, musicals shows, ensemble and sports.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                June, 2008

Cantor, ESQ.  Class of 1957 is a partner in the Wisler, Pearlstine Law Firm in Blue Bell, PA.  He is past President of the Montgomery County Bar Association and serves as solicitor for the Board of Commissioners of Cheltenham Township.                                                                                                                June, 2008

Stacey Smalls, ’93; Has been an assistant women’s basketball coach at LaSalle University for two years. She is a 2003 graduate of Temple. While at Temple she scored 1,258 points with 360 assists. Temple won their first Atlantic 10 Championship title in 2003. Stacey was named the Tournament MVP.                                                                                   04/15/08

Terese Loeb Kreuzer; Class of ‘1960;is a writer, editor, photographer and multimedia producer. Her book, “How to Move to Canada: A primer for Americans,” was published in August, 2006 by St. Martins Griffin.

Her articles and photographs appear regularly in large newspapers in the United States and Canada.

She is also the Editor-In-Chief of the Travel Arts Syndicate, which sells travel-related articles/photographs to newspapers and magazines.

 

Earl Hulihan, Class of 1967; is Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance at Medidata Solutions (based in New York City) has received the Drug Information Association’s Founders Service Award is the DIA’s highest honor for volunteerism, honoring Earl’s lifelong contributions to medicine, regulatory science and people around the World.

 

Susan Rosengarten Hoffman, Class of 1962 was elected Mayor of Rockvill, Maryland in November of 2007

Michael Brecker, ’67; who passed away in January of this year will live on  with the posthumous album ”Pilgrimage”, which was released in May of this year.

Michael L. Brecker, Class of 1967, one of the most highly regarded jazz players of his time, died on Saturday,

 January 13, 2007.

In 2005 Brecker learned he had myelodysplastic syndrome, a blood and bone marrow disease formerly known as pre-leukemia.               He is the brother of Randy Brecker. class of 1963 and  Emily Brecker Greenberg, class of 1965.

 

David S. Krupnick Class of 1980

Krupnick is the Assistant Inspector General, US Department

of Health & Human Services in Washington, DC

He oversees all training, personnel, budget, special investigations and liaison with Congress and Senate for the Office of Inspector General.                                                 02/06/07

 

Ronald Sparks, M.D., class of 1959 a Tucson pathologist, has been appointed to the Arizona Tobacco Revenue Use Spending and Tracking (TRUST) Commission. For over thrity years Spark has been an advocate for tobacco use reduction.                                               02/06/07

 

David Hanson, class of 1972, recently retired from the Cheltenham Township Police Department. Hanson served on

the K-9 Unit & Civil Affairs Division and trained as a hostage negotiator and instructor. He served for 31 years.                                                       01/01/07

Samantha Eisenman, class of 2002 won the Delaware Valley Country Idol Singing Contest in August, 2006. She wants to someday be on Broadway and also record.                                                                                      09/21/06

Candance Allen, class of 2001, is the current Miss District of Columbia, USA 2006. She competed for the title of Miss USA 2006 in Baltimore, Maryland and placed in the top 10.

Allen, a legal communications major was graduated from Howard University in June.  She aspires to be an attorney with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC)                                                                               07/2006

 

Larry Greene, class of 1971, head football coach at Central Bucks East (PA), is returning to coaching in the Fall. Greene missed the 2005 season while battling bonemarrow cancer. His cancer recently went into remission

 

Ellen Rosskam Krasnosselski, PhD., MPH, Class of 1978; has a new book coming out, from Baywood, New York http://baywood.com/books/previewbook.asp?id=0-89503-360-7 (also available from  Amazon.com) entitled "Excess Baggage: Leveling the Load and Changing the Workplace". Ellen works internationally conducting research leading to social policy recommendations, and is an international social protection and public health specialist.

 

Dear Cheltenham Alumni,

My name is Lise Marlowe , Cheltenham Class of 1985, and the History Channel just named me "Teacher of the Year" (2006). I am a teacher in Cheltenham at the Elkins Park School. (My maiden name was Glass- K. Lise Glass, I married Keith Marlowe the same year '85)'

 

I received the award for making a movie and book on the History of Cheltenham focusing on Camp William Penn, the first training camp in the nation for black soldiers in the Civil War (located in La Mott) and Lucretia Mott's role in the Underground Railroad and woman's suffrage movement (her home was on Old York Road and Camp William Penn was located on her land)

 

I teach 6th grade at EP school and the History Channel is filming at my school this week. I will receive the award in Washington D.C. in June and will have the opportunity to meet government officials, congress members to discuss Cheltenham's role in the abolitionist movement. My award will be announced this week on the History Channel web site http://www.saveourhistory.com/  The award is granted to teachers who focus on local history and I will receive a $5,000 grant for my school to continue the project

 

 

Ken Dornstein  CHS Class of 1987

Has written a book, “The Boy Who Fell Out of the Sky”.

Ken has written this book about his brother, David, Class of 1981 who was a victim of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 on December 22, 1988.

ROBERT SKLAROFF, MD                                                                             CLASS OF 1969

DR. SKLAROFF HAS DEDICATED HIS ACTIVE PROFESSIONAL LIFE TO CARING, DETECTING AND TREATING CANCER. HE IS A LEADER OF THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY. DR. SKLAROFF HAS:

A sampling

(a) led the fight to ban smoking in all public buildings in Pennsylvania

(b) testified in Congress in order to stop the unwarranted subsidies and force tobacco companies to disclose how they unbelievable increase nicotine in cigarettes to make them more addictive.

(c) been one of the leaders of the Anti-smoking Caucus in Pennsylvania and the United States.

(d) been one of the key leaders who established the Montgomery County Health Department in PA. which is rated #1 in the state.

Dr. Sklaroff has been honored by the AMA, the American Cancer Society, the PA Medical Society, the American Heart Association, the Albert Einstein Medical Center and the PA Nurses Association. He has been widely published and quoted by other medical experts.

 

Craig Littlepage, Class of 1969

Currently Virginia athletic director, Littlepage has been named chair of the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the kingpin in what is arguably the most powerful group in college basketball. Littlepage played college basketball at the University of Pennsylvania and also coached at Penn.

William F, Lee, class of 1951 has written his first book, “The Bottom of the List”.      It is listed as an inspiring story of triumph over adversity.

 

Thomas J. Ellis, class of 1977 was recently named chairman of the three-member Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.  Ellis is also a partner in the Philadelphia law firm of Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll.

 

Raymond L. Singer, M.D., class of 1976, is Associate Chief, Division of Cardiathoracic Surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA.

 

Ronald M. Shapiro, class of 1960, Co-wrote “Bullies, Tyrants and Impossible     People – How to beat them without joining them”.  Shapiro is an attorney, sports agent, educator, and civic leader. He has lectured at Johns Hopkins University and the Wharton School of Business.

 

Henry J. Donner, Esq., class of 1962, is the senior member of Jacoby Donner, P.C. He concentrates his practice in construction law, construction & commercial litigation and multi-employer benefit funds in Philadelphia.

 

Joseph Zipley, Jr., class of 1949 is the owner of Roslyn Supply in Roslyn, PA.

 

Robert B. Kevitch, M.D., class of 1975 is in the division of Plastic Surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA

 

Dae Bong Sunim, aka Larry Sichel, class of 1968 is a Zen Buddist Monk and head teacher of the Kye Ryong Sahn International Zen Center of Korea.

 

Edward Schwarzschild, class of 1982 returned to CHS and spoke to students about writing and his book “Responsible Men” which was published last Spring.

 

Jon Waxman, class of 1983 is the owner of Lee’s Hoagie House in Abington, PA.

 

An invitation to the first CHS graduation dated June 26, 1885 with four graduates  was donated by Nina Wagner Barcik ’58 daughter of Alice Flounders Wagner, youngest daughter of George W. Flounders, founder of Cheltenham High School.

 

Lisa Marie Pellegrini  Class of 1985

Leslee was awarded a Master of Science degree in school psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in July, 2005.

 

Natasha Hinton, Class of 1994 is currently doing research work at Fox Chase Cancer Center in the Burholme section of Philadelphia, PA.
