NEW PRINCIPAL FOR CHS
In July, 2004, Dr. Elliott H. Lewis was
named principal of Cheltenham High School succeeding Joseph W. Rodgers who served as principal
for seventeen years and thirty-three years in the Cheltenham Schools. Dr. Lewis was the principal at Bensalem High
School in Bucks County from 1999 to 2004. His last position before coming to
CHS was educational
administrator to the deputy chief academic officer in the Office
of the Secondary Education in the Philadelphia School
District. He accepted the principalship at CHS in July. Dr. Lewis
holds Pennsylvania Certification in Biology and General Sciences, Supervisor of
Science, Secondary Principal and Superintendent.
Lewis is excited about his new position and
returning to a high school environment. He plans to focus on Cheltenham’s reputation of academic excellence. Lewis, along
with his staff will also be focusing on curriculum development and instruction
along with closing the achievement gap, and increasing learning opportunities
for all students. He wants every student to be successful.
The alumni association looks forward to
working with Dr. Lewis for many years.
